William Beaver House

William Beaver House New YorkThe construction for the William Beaver House is well under-way in our neighborhood.  (See photo of the construction site taken in January 2007). The project is located at the corner of William and Beaver Streets; a two minute walk from Goldman Sachs headquarters on 85 Broad Street.  The owners of Delmonico's restaurant will be happy when the project is completed who is located just across the street from the project.

The project has lower Manhattan buzzing with controversy at the promise of luxury condominiums with an added twist.  The project calls for 300+ apartments and offers wide range of amenities including 24 hour concierge service.  There is some debate how the theme, pricing and implementation of this condominium project will eventually turn-out.

When the sales office opened in November 2006, prices started at $890,000 for a one bedroom apartment. The penthouse with terrace was starting at 2.5 million dollars; not bad if your Goldman Sachs bonus was big in 2006.

We'll keep an updated gallery of photos in the coming months and add some additional commentary on the project.   There are many opinions on the William Beaver House that fill the blog-sphere.  I listed a links for you to get an idea of the spin around the project:
